Residents to have their say on NHS urgent care services in North Tyneside

Residents of North Tyneside are being asked to get involved in a consultation over how best to provide NHS urgent care services.
The consultation launches on 7 October 2015 and will continue until 21 January 2016. During this time people will be invited to come along to drop in events, email, phone, write, or call with their views.
Urgent care refers to any form of medical attention that people need to access quickly but that is not serious enough to need a visit to hospital. This could include injuries, an illness or any other medical condition which needs advice from a GP, pharmacist, NHS 111, a walk-in centre or the out-of-hours GP service.
Dr Shaun Lackey, North Tyneside GP and Chair of the Urgent Care Working Group, commented:
“At NHS North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), we are constantly looking for ways to improve healthcare services for people in North Tyneside. As part of this process, we recently began a review into local urgent care services.
“Hundreds of people have shared their views and made it clear that ease of access, in terms of location, times and days, is very important to people, as well as knowing that you will be seen by the right medical professional for your condition.
“We have studied people’s feedback, and considered the best clinical evidence, and developed a number of possible scenarios for the future shape of our services.
“The next stage is to share these options through the consultation period and get people’s views on the different scenarios. I would encourage everyone to have their say and help us to shape services for the future.”
Drop in consultation events are being held as follows:

• Wednesday 18 November, 10-11am, Oxford Centre, Longbenton
• Wednesday 2 December, 6-7pm, Wallsend Customer First Centre
• Wednesday 9 December, 10-11am, Whitley Bay Customer First Centre
