As a result of the social distancing measures to slow down the spread of COVID-19, all non-urgent dental activity has been suspended.
However general dental practices remain open and should be the initial contact point for all local patients.
A remote telephone triage will be undertaken, self-care advice will be given and pain killers and/or antibiotics will be prescribed as appropriate.
The general dental practice will be able to refer patients in need of urgent treatment to a designated treatment centre, where they will be seen if absolutely necessary.
Outside of normal dental practice hours and at weekends patients should contact NHS 111 to access support and advice.
